Is there a six-foot bat in Gotham City?

Okay, LOL, I don't mean the Gotham from Batman. I was referring to a song called "The Storm" from Shores of Love by Gotham Chopra. HaHa, bet you thought I was going to write about some more superhero stuff didn't ya? Nahhh, this is just a cool song I found that I wish I could post the lyrics on here, but sadly was unable to locate them anywhere on the internet. So you'll just be getting the music video which is really just the music with pictures lol. You should get a t-shirt that reads: I went to Dahlia's blog, and all I got was this stupid song LOL. Besides the lack of being able to share the words with you, you can still listen to the song anyway. Hope you  enjoy it...

Oh Sourdough, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?

Link: http://wheatallergysymptoms.org/

Well nothing can be just same 'ol, same 'ol with me LOL. So I recently decided to give up Wheat. After battling symptoms from my allergy to Wheat, I have finally decided to call it quits. Well at least for 30 days to see how I feel after it has been out of my system for a month.

As a child I had to go on Saturday mornings to get tested to see what I was allergic to. While other normal kids were watching Saturday morning cartoons, I was being pricked with this and that. Then I'd sit waiting for the bumps to swell and itch. Then the nurse would come by to measure such swelling and itchiness to determine what all I was indeed allergic to. "Super Fun" I am sure you are saying to yourself right now LOL. Yeahhh, sure, it was.... Awesome!! (insert sarcastic smirk)

After the torture sessions were complete it was determined that I am allergic to Wheat, the Milk Protein (not lactose intolerant), Cats (never getting rid of them lol), Hay (hilarious since I had 13 horses growing up lol) , Ragweed/Pollen (OMG this is going to be the death of me this year), Mold (wtf) and well just about anything else that is in our environment LOL. Let me just say I was (and still am) the Allergy Kid LOL!

I don't know about you, but the last month or so has been pure hell for me and my allergies. I have been doing anything I can think of to find a remedy. Every morning I take an Allergy Pill, do my Neti Pot, squirt Allergy Eye Drops in my eyeballs and drink this Tea my Chinese medicine doctor has concocted for me (tastes like dirt and cinnamon, Yucky). In addition to my daily morning routine, I see the Chinese medicine doctor for various acupuncture sessions which always include working on my allergy ordeal.

I got to thinking that if I am spending so much time on fixing my allergies, then why in the hell am I not getting to the actual source of one of my problems... Wheat? So I made the decision recently to stop eating and drinking ANYTHING that has wheat in the ingredients. Do you know how many things have wheat in them? Ummm like about 92% of everything we consume. (Dammit, this is going to be tougher than I thought.) Hey, at least I still have my favorite foods available to me: Mexican and Burger/Fries (sans bun). So I pep myself back up continuing with my NO Wheat for 30 Days trial.

What I forgot when I engaged in this contract with myself is that vodka ALSO is made of wheat. (Dammit Again!!) So I suck it up once again, and decide to go with flavored rums (which are quite delicious). Now the funny part is that if you are used to drinking one kind of alcohol, you also know how to pace yourself (how much/how fast/etc). Slip in a new drink, and Bang, you find yourself a lil more tipsy... a lot more quickly LOL. So I will have to grow accustomed to my new drink of choice (which my friends all agreed was way more scrumptious than my normal flavored Vodkas lol).

I am now at a point where I do not spend all my thoughts on how much I miss my long lost friend wheat, but have now entered into a comfortable place with my newest endeavor. Oh, but those first 3-4 days were tough, and I mean TOUGH. I thought I was going to pull my hair out with insanity, kill someone in a fit of rage and sleep for 20 years like Rip Van Winkle LOL. Withdrawal symptoms are a MoFo LOL. I had absolutely NO energy, NO Patience and was sooooo Irritable (more so than normal LOL). I am just so Happy that I have mellowed out a little bit, and can now actually start charting my progress to see if I feel any better at the end of my 30 days. If I do, then it's bye-bye Wheat forever, and well if I don't..... I'm going to Panera to get one of those sourdough bread bowls to scarf down with a pound of butter LOL.

Why is it that the things we Love the most, are usually the Worst for us? Things that make you go Hmmm LOL   :-D~

Cachecanto....Heart Of South America

Link: http://cachecanto.com/

I have a friend whose sister is in a band called Cachecanto . I had the exquisite pleasure of going to see them last night (Sat. Aug 11th) at the Record Bar in Westport. WOW, they are amazing! If you like South American music (which I do), then you'll just fall in love with this band in a heartbeat.

Take a minute to explore their website (www.cachecanto.com) to find out more about these members from Bolivia. I spent the entire night drinking with their family and friends, and was hanging on to every word spoken. Their story is outstanding, and worthy of passing on to others. This is an Awesome group of people who do great things to help those less fortunate in the Latina community. Seriously, they spend most of their time helping to better the lives of youth and young adults just trying to find their way in American society. When you go to their website, click on "The Band". There you will find quite an interesting read.

I do not have information about where and when their next show will be at this time so check back often to see when they will play next. You can also like them on FacePuke...errrr I mean Facebook to stay on the up and up with new show dates and locations.

Come see this band; listen, dance and fall in love with the sounds of South America.

You will have a Blast , as well as leaving with the feeling that you are now one of the Family !!!

Woo Hoo and Hot Damn, it's time for Football again! Seems like it's been forever, but finally Preseason has arrived. Yeah I know these games don't mean a crap, but hey, it's football. If you love football, you'll take just about anything you can get LOL.

Download your 2012 NFL App, get your Fantasy Football Leagues together and your favorite Team Jersey out of the back of the closet. This is so exciting! I do have my team I root for (not that they are any good, lol, none-the-less I still love them anyway), but beyond that I honestly just love the game of Football . I try to catch as many games as I can. The main thing on my mind right now... is how Peyton Manning is going to do with the Broncos. Not a big fan of Denver, LOL, but hey he sure is one hell of a QB. Not sure I would go back into playing the game after having neck problems/surgery, but he's a man that lives and breaths football. Whatta ya gonna do LOL?

This should definitely pan out to be a very INTERESTING season for All !!
